Hands-On Equipment That Lets Students Learn by Doing! The Physics Workshop is a new collection of engaging, easy-to-use lab experiments designed to meet the real needs of today’s math and science teachers. Crafted from sturdy materials that shrug off abuse, the equipment looks engaging and fun, but is quantitatively accurate and will challenge even advanced students. Best of all, these “must-have” tools are specially priced to make it easy to order multiple setups, ensuring that all of your students get the hands-on experience they need and deserve. Start with the Physics Workshop Stand Each of the labs in the Physics Workshop collection, requires the use of the Workshop Stand (P4-1900). So if you have ordered one with your first lab, you will not need another useless you will be using the different lab equipment simultaneously. In which case you'll need a stand for each lab in use. The Complete Physics Workshop bundle (P4-1805) includes one Workshop Stand. Versatile Data Collection The labs are designed to integrate seamlessly with the EasySense Data-logger and sensors for computer data analysis. And with the purchase of additional sensors, the Easy Sense Data-logger can be used by all your science departments.

Experiment with distance, time, velocity and acceleration, Newton's laws and simple machines. The 120cm ramp attaches to the Workshop Stand at angles up to 65°. A pulley at the top allows students to measure force with a spring scale or force sensor. Attach photogates to the side and capture data points during the car's trip, or place a motion sensor at the bottom of the ramp. The car has low-friction ball bearing wheels and room for added mass. Requires Workshop Stand, Hooked Masses, Data-logger and Photogates. |

Simple Harmonic Motion, Conservation of Energy A perfect example of how new technology can be used to enhance traditional labs. First, experiment with different weights, lengths, and amplitudes to find out which affects the period. Then use a photogate to measure the bob's maximum speed and a motion sensor to see how the speed changes throughout the swing. We've included a whiteboard where students can record the bob's vertical displacement and predict the maximum velocity using conservation of energy. Includes pendulum face, string, bob, grid, and bolts. Requires Workshop Stand, Data-logger and Photogates. |

Experiment at two levels with the innovative
Lever! Attach the center pivot to the Workshop Stand and use Hooked Masses
to create equal torques on each end and establish equilibrium. Or move the
pivot near one end and find the effective torque caused by the weight of the
lever itself! A complete study of balance and equilibrium. 65cm long. Requires Workshop Stand and Hooked Masses |

Simple Machines ~ Mechanical Advantage The specially designed block-and-tackle makes it easy to string the pulleys with the lower pulley attached to the stand. Then simply unscrew the bolt to release it for experimentation. Even the string is well designed, with an end clip for quick setup and sliding markers to help identify the effort distance. Includes set of two triple pulleys, attachment bolts, and string. Requires Workshop Stand, Hooked Masses, and Data-logger with Force Sensor or Spring Scales.

Racing Marbles Lab
Students will review basic concepts of
instantaneous and average velocity while they learn about conservation of
energy.
Includes Ramp and one 3/4" steel marble. Required but not included: Workshop Stand, Data-logger, and Photogates.
Challenge students to predict the range of a
projectile launched from the ramp! Accurate measurements make it possible! |

Free Fall & Acceleration Gravity Lab
Gravity Lab
Students can measure the acceleration due to
gravity in three different ways with these two simple pieces. Students can
achieve increasing levels of accuracy by measuring acceleration with a
stopwatch, photogate, and motion sensor.
